Who We Are

Sigma Phi Epsilon is the largest college fraternity with over 14,000 undergraduates at 263 chapters. More than 255,000 men have joined SigEp since its founding on November 1, 1901, in Richmond, Virginia.

The Illinois Alpha chapter at the University of Illinois is ranked in the top three of 53 fraternities when it comes to manpower and GPA. As a Balanced Man Program chapter - NO pledging, NO hazing - our member development program helps brothers leave the Fraternity as better leaders, scholars, athletes and gentlemen. We are consistently recognized as leaders on campus, the community, and in the National Fraternity. Many of our members are involved with student organizations and often times take leadership positions as well.

With work, comes play. Great sorority relations also provides us with a full social calendar. We excel at intramurals and several of our members are on club and varsity sports, including baseball, lacrosse, volleyball and cheerleading. Also, many of us enjoy going to football and basketball games, where we have a large block of seats with Chi Omega sorority this fall for football, and several Orange Krush members at the basketball games.

SigEp is about a Balanced life. Work, properly balanced with fun, can help one achieve a great collegiate experience.

Mission

The mission of Sigma Phi Epsilon is to promote brotherhood and develop its members according to the Balanced Man Program. We strive daily to live the Balanced Man Ideal through Sound Mind and Sound Body. In doing so, our members can enjoy college to its fullest, becoming outstanding leaders, scholars, athletes and gentlemen along the way.
